The Finn-Power LPE…

Punching, marking, tapping, nibbling, upforming,
bending, laser cutting… all in just one machine… in a single set-up!

The Finn-Power LPE is a high-precision sheet metal fabrication work center. This newest-generation 5-axis, precision fabricating machine features a servomotor-driven mechanism
and is not only flexible, but also amazingly accurate.
Finn-Power’s LPE combines this unique E-Series Turret Punch press with the latest generation of CO2 Lasers…providing fast, flexible production of more diversified parts…even in small batches.
The LPE is great wherever high precision is demanded. It is constructed to suit demanding and varied production requirements, with outstanding productivity through simplicity of programming and
operation; speed of production, and the variety of operations it can perform…and all with precision.
With just one set-up the raw material can be processed into the finished parts without
any extra material handling, or releasing of the material. The Finn-Power LPE has the capability to run advanced cutting and forming tools…with the flexibility to run special tools, like the wheel technology.
Finn-Power’s Intelligent Concept determines tooling data and material data after the first punch, then stores it for the rest of the run. Controls are state-of-the-art . The sophisticated Siemens
840D Control provides touch-screen, ‘fingertip’ control of the LPE programs and operation.
Remote Monitoring during unmanned periods can be a vital part of the overall operation. The Finn-Power optional Remote System Monitoring package contains
the software for the client machine, modems and DDE software for both server and client machine.
A CNC controlled servo motor – actuating the vertical punch movement – provides raw power with precise controllability of the stroke. Braking energy of any
servo motor is fed back to a capacitor bank, to support the energy needed for future use with the next axes movement. This saves money, by not wasting energy. The LPE also features:
- Multiple forming in one part
- Different forming in one part
- Complicated forms
Once the raw material goes in…the fabrication processes in the LPE can produce a completely finished part. The LPE is revolutionizing the fabrication industry, by
providing a bending tool and a laser cutting head in the turret punch press – opening more flexibility and creativity for manufacturing of parts.
Upforming is a Finn-Power LPE feature that provides a precise process for knock-outs, louvers and other forming. Finn-Power resolved the conventional problem of the die height impeding
free sheet movement. Finn-Power’s design allows forming heights up to 16 mm (0.62”) with the forms made by the die moving upwards and then retracting, allowing completely free
sheet movement, eliminating scratched or jammed sheets.
Laser Link MMC Software (Man-Machine-Control) is a multi-functional production management program including NC program transfer to the NC control. Editing, queuing and production
information are seamlessly integrated into your network. Programs can be generated and managed independently from the operator, then automatically transferred to the machine.
Productivity is enhanced with Finn-Power’s integration of the Triagon 2500 watt CO2 Laser, or the diffusion cooled Rofin Sinar Laser. In the
LPE-Machine, both lasers provide the benefit of processing a wide spectrum of materials, material thickness’ and a variety of parts – with speed and precision.
Optimum use of the Finn-Power LPE means you can use the punch where it is easier or faster.. and you can use the Laser, where it is most effective. You have
the option to look at the parts, the materials, the intricacies, the time and the overall cost of the parts, to determine the best production processes for every project.
With the Finn-Power LPE, you can pre-punch the material…then contour around the part and the previously punched holes. The laser cuts around many small pieces quickly, without lifting the head to the upper
position…saving valuable process time. The constant distance between the material surface and the nozzle is achieved with a non-contact, capacitive, integrated sensing unit. To minimize
set-up time during focal lens change, a high-pressure cutting head has been integrated into the system.
The cutting head does not have to change when a focal lens change is required. Only a new cartridge, with the new focal lens, has to be inserted. The lens mount can be changed in seconds
by this cartridge technique without any tools. Cartridges are available for focal lengths of 3.75”, 5” and 7.5”.
Around the cutting head, a material pusher with integrated brass brushes provides protection from scatter radiation and material interference, while safe-guarding the cutting head
from collisions with parts or material.
Optional Video Monitoring of the laser cutting allows the operator to safely follow the laser process through the use of a small camera built-in to the cutting unit.
Finn-Power developed an “operator-friendly” control system for laser processing and laser cutting parameters.
Finn-Power understands that it is sometimes necessary to influence the process during the operation. For this reason, Finn-Power developed a Laser
Control, to allow the operator to influence the cutting process outside the machine processing area.
Finn-Power’s “Intelligent Integration” sets new standards for material handling automation for laser punch combination systems.
Finished parts can be removed through a drop door in front of the turret for part sizes up to 19.6” x 19.6”. In addition, finished laser parts can be removed with
either the small part drop door (11.8” x 15.7”) or the large part drop door (31.4” x 31.4”) where the parts are dropped on to a conveyor and transported to designated sorting or stacking areas.

Finn-Power’s Rotary Sorting System, or SUB 8, has 8 addressable sorting bins. The parts are transferred with a conveyor below the table into the appropriate bin.
This operation is uniquely valuable by handling the sorting process automatically for a variety of parts while the machine is continuously running and cutting.
The Loading and Stacking Robot LSR2500 loads sheets to the turret punch press and stacks finished parts onto stacking pallets. A wide variety of part sizes can be
handled, along with parts that are formed and they can be picked -up from beside the cutting head, or off of a conveyor. Parts are accurately and neatly placed in designated finished part locations.
The high tech LPE…a completely integrated, manufacturing solution for sheet metal fabrication profitability.
