Tomi Ketola,
Logistics Manager

Finn-Power Parts &
Preventative Maintenance…
An Ongoing Commitment
To Customer Service

According to Tomi Ketola, Finn-Power’s logistics manager, providing maintenance or replacement parts to customers in a timely manner is an on-going commitment at Finn-Power.
“The key to customer retention,” explains Ketola,
“is to minimize downtime due to needed replacement parts. We take this responsibility very seriously.”

Just how serious Finn-Power considers fast and accurate part deliveries is evidenced by the following facts:

  • In addition to central storage of replacement parts in its Customer Support facility in Arlington Heights, Il, Finn-Power also has millions of dollars invested in regional parts inventories at its facilities in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Sâo Paulo, Brazil.
  • The Finn-Power Parts Team has been trained to help customers find part numbers quickly and place orders more accurately and efficiently.
  • Finn-Power has 24/7 parts phone support to help minimize customer downtime.
  • Finn-Power’s parts inventory is cycle counted daily…as are back order reports for assuring accurate inventory.
  • Warranty on OEM parts.
  • A variety of Preventative Maintenance Programs (see below).

Originally from the southwest coast of Finland, Juha is a machine automation engineer. He joined Lillbacka in 1997 and has worked in the U.S for three years…two years as a service tech and one year as a coordinator. Before he joined Lillbacka, Juha worked on CNC machining centers and industrial food machines.

Pasi Erkkilä
(Eastern Region/Atlanta)
Phone: (678) 291 0056
e-mail: pasi@finnpower.com

Pasi is an automation engineer who has worked for Finn-Power for nearly six years. Before joining Finn-Power International late last year, Pasi worked for Lillbacka’s final testing department in Finland where he tested and installed flexible manufacturing cells and systems throughout the world.

Ismo Rossi

Turret Punch Press PM Program

A Finn-Power service technician visits the customer location for a pre-arranged meeting after the agreement has been purchased. This program is a supplement to customers’ weekly in-house maintenance procedures. The entire mechanical system of the machine is inspected for alignment as well as level and proper tightness of connections.

The hydraulic system is checked for leaks and the pump system adjusted to ensure it is within specifications for pressure, power consumption and that the cooling system is operating correctly. The hydraulic oil and Finn Power replacement filters will be changed, provided that a customer-supplied 3 micron oil filter and oil pump are on hand.

The control and electrical system connections are tested and tightened if required. The control voltages are checked. The servo drive system is inspected and adjusted with an oscilloscope if required.

Table drive belts are inspected and adjusted as needed. This includes the perspective ball screws and motion guides for each axis. The work holders are inspected for functionality and settings.

Each PM visit is completed with a check of all machine functions, emergency stops and an accuracy check before a complete set of control backups are made to diskette for safety.

Express System PM Program

The turret punch press in the Express System receives the same care as the stand alone turret with added steps to ensure the proper function of the load/unload system. Operation of all load/unload functions are tested and adjusted if required. The unloading addresses are checked, as is the squareness of the load table to the machine.

Shear Genius PM Program

For our customers’ Shear Genius (SG) flexible manufacturing cells, Finn-Power has a program to keep it producing up to its capacity. We begin with the same PM for the turret and add to it the remaining components of the SG system. The right angle shear on the SG is cleaned of debris and all hoses are inspected. The guides are lubricated and all fittings greased.

The shear blades are inspected and rotated if required. The adjustments of the control card for the shears and various stroke positions are checked and adjusted.

The springs in the hold downs are replaced (the springs are customer supplied) and the shear squareness and zero point setting are checked.

The scrap and exit conveyors are checked for wear and the tension adjusted. The gearboxes are lubricated and motor draws adjusted.

All shearing functions and safety features are checked, the conveyors run and complete system backups are made.

On the loading system, the level of the movements are checked along with the limits and stops. All glide surfaces are lubricated. Operation of all load/unload functions are tested and adjusted if required. The unloader addresses are checked, as is the squareness of the load table to the machine.
