Finn-Power in the Spotlight

Finn-Power sheet metal fabrication technology and its customers continue to attract a great deal of attention from trade publications throughout North & South America.

THE FABRICATOR - (January)

Punch it, laser-cur it, or something else – FINN-POWER’s Andrew McCarlie explores the machine choices facing sheet metal fabricators today and demonstrates how application requirements dictate the best fabrication method for the job. The article is a detailed and unbiased look at the features and benefits of turret punch presses, lasers, and punch/shear & laser/punch combination machines and what things to consider before making the purchase. (see page 4)

MÁQUINAS e METAIS - Portuguese (January)

A cover article describes FINN-POWER’s turret punch presses’ upforming capabilities in this leading Brazilian metalworking trade magazine.

MODERN APPLICATIONS NEWS – (February)

This 3-page article describes a FINN-POWER Shear Genius installation at P&M Industries, Inc., a major contract manufacturer in Thorofare, NJ. Owner Harry Monteith, Jr. and his son John purchased the Shear Genius in 2002 after researching all the existing fabrication technology that was available at the time. “We really like the modularity capability of the Shear Genius,” states Harry Monteith. “For some machine manufacturers, reconfiguring an add-on is a major problem. But with FINN-POWER, you can build on what you have – even adding a Night Train Material Management System at some later date.”

INDUSTRIA & EMPRESAS – Spanish (April)

The features and benefits of the complete FINN-POWER turret punch press line (A5, C5 and E5) are described in this 3-page article in this Argentine fabrication trade magazine.

METALWORKING PRODUCTION & PURCHASING – (April)

This leading Canadian trade publication published a cover article on the installation of two C5 turret punch presses at Wesgar Industries Ltd., Port Coquitlam, BC. “Before the addition of the C5s, we were running 24/7, explains John Thwaites. Wesgar’s president. “Today, we are running 24/5 and sales are up 10%…basically running fewer shifts and producing more. In essence, we’ve gained 28% capacity and increased throughput 35-40%.” (see page 10)

MODERN APPLICATIONS NEWS – (June)

This 3-page article highlights the Laser Punch combination machine installed at KSO Metalfab, Inc., Streamwood, IL, a family-operated contract manufacturer and long-time FINN-POWER customer. “The FINN-POWER allows us to automatically load and unload material. We can now process full-sized sheets and no longer need to shear the material in blanks. We have dramatically cut costs on material handling, shearing, and such secondary operations as deburring,” explains Kenneth Kuzelka, KSO’s chief executive officer.

METALFORMING – (July)

A 3 page article that describes FINN-POWER’s two Shear Genius cells at Pacific Energy Fireplace Products Ltd., Vancouver Island in Duncan, BC. The two SG’s not only increased Pacific’s production by 40-50% but also provided the ability to use full-tonnage upforming stations with tooling larger than 3.5” dia. and achieve 98.5% material utilization thanks to common-line shearing with no bottom trim. “Forming up in the SG, rather than down,” explains Trevor Gregson, Pacific Energy’s production manager, “provides a nice even collar without the use of shimming. It is easy to set up, and we don’t have to worry about dragging the extrusions over the other tools, which can dull the tools.” (see page 24)
